On average how hard is it to install a new bath tub?l know it depends on
many different factors, but I am thinking of doing this myself.Never done
this but have installed a toilet and other similar stuff.
It can be pretty tough for a DIYer. I would not recommend
trying it if it is the only bathroom in the house. Note that the drain
fitting, referred to as a 'waste & overflow' should be replaced (it will
be very hard to get to later on), & that the p-trap will probably not be
in the right location for the new tub. In many cases the easiest thing to
do is saw it off & install a new one - especially easy if it is plastic.
If you're thinking about a cast iron tub, that is the best choice, but they're very heavy & awkward. Stuff some insulation around the tub, if you do decide to go for it.
well its not hard to install a tub, the problem is removing it
& repairing the walls once installed..u will have to remove 1 to 2 feet of
the lower tub walls in order to get out ...then u need to remove the tubs
plumbing trap (this can be done from the basement if u have one or cut
into the back wall of tubs drain..once this is all done u can pull it
out..the tub sits on a 2x4 along its length ( u should see it when the tub
is removed) the new tub has to set on that board when installed.readjust the height of the board to fit ur tubs height
if the tub is the same size it will be easy if you put it back
in the same place, make sure you turn your water off lol, also you can
