What's the best product to use in cleaning a long neglected bath tub.

Stud Monkey , Thursday, 5th of August 2010 07:08:36 PM

We just moved into a rental and the bath tub has a lot scum and grime in
Stud Monkey
it. Any suggestions of what to use to clean it? Thanks.

DON'T use ajax or comet or any other powdered cleanser. They

will take the finish off the tub and then you will never, ever be able to

get it clean. The CLR is probably your best bet.

Soft Scrub or Comet

Windex for my faucets
Abrasive sponge/Scrub brush
Paper towels
Latex gloves(optional)

Make sure everything is removed from the bathtub
If you have tiled walls around, start by spraying them down with the
bathroom cleaner, then wipe with paper towels. You can let it sit also to
disinfect

Then wet the basin of the tub & either sprinkle ur comet or pour ur soft
scrub. If you are using Comet, let it sit for about 3 minutes, if ur
using soft scrub don't because since it is a paste it is harder for it to
disinfect because it wont always cover the basin.

Take ur scrub brush & scrub really good everywhere & then rinse, repeat
until all scum & grime is gone

Then if you have stainless steel faucets spray it down with windex & a
paper towel. It will shine like new :)

Without a doubt, the best that I tried was the CLR Bath & Kitchen cleaner.

It comes in a YELLOW spray bottle. Don't get it confused with CLR is

the Yellow spray bottle works better. You can get it at Home Depot and
Stater Brothers. Good luck.

When you empty the bath in the morning, wash any remaining scum using a
soft cloth and loads of warm water. If there is still some scum left, make
a paste from the washing powder and scrub stubborn marks.

Finish with water and buff to a lovely shine!
